Hermes Crocodiles

These gifts would be sent out by the WWF, to every one on the waiting list for a Hermes crocodile skin handbag, to increase awareness of the fact that it takes four crocodiles to make just one of these handbags, in the hope that they will cancel their order. The gift label directs customers to more ethical alternatives.

Mucycle

A musical instrument created from bike wheels, taking inspirations from the natural rhythms and sounds heard whilst cycling. When the wheels are pedalled, the strings are plucked creating rhythmic tunes. The musicians are told when, and at what speed to play, by following the actions of the cyclists on a screen in front of them, which acts as a musical score.

Around the world in six nights

A week of evenings at the V&A celebrating music , dance and culture from various countries to celebrate the opening of an exhibition exploring cultural dress and traditional costumes from around the world. this CD collection of music is available to V&A members to mark the event, and six posters created to advertise the individual nights.

Globophobia

The aim of this project was to raise awareness of globophobia,(fear of balloons), and ligyrophobia, (fear of loud noises), as a real phobia which is often at the centre of practical jokes. This pack is sent out by the Celebrations Control Council, under the Globophobia and Ligyrophobia Awareness Act 2009. The pack contains their partypopper and balloon license, party event certificate, invites complete with a disclaimer, and certified balloons and party poppers.

Where is the pub?

When given a one day brief which asked to learn a new skill, my partner and I decided to learn how to ask where is the pub in 18 European languages. We produced a passport sized booklet which phonetically spells out the phrase in each language next to a beer from that country, for thirsty travellers to use when abroad.

In response to a brief that asked for a typographic code, two new typefaces 'horizontal astigmatism', and 'vertical astigmatism' were created that highlight the difficulties that arise for a person that has either form of astigmatism, so that some one without the defect could experience what it is like.

Square C4

Square C4, (named so because of it's co-ordinates in the A to Z), is an area of London which was given to me as part of a brief, to explore and spot a design opportunity. My square was quite run down and consisted mostly of back entrances to office blocks and shut down shops, pubs and cafes. I chose to celebrate aspects of my square that didn't fit in with their surroundings, which I found humorous and quite charming. If you were to hear the names and features of my square you would get a completely different image to if you visited there, for example there is a scaffolding company called The Posh, a greasy spoon cafe called The Savoy, and a run down pub offering champagne receptions.
